The default 320×240 resolution delivers photos in approximately 9 seconds when connected directly to the hub via Ethernet.

How long do the batteries last?

The Superior MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller operates for up to 4 years on the pre-installed batteries when the Photo on Demand feature is disabled, or up to 3 years when Photo on Demand is enabled. Can I take photos on demand?

Yes, the Photo on Demand feature allows you to request photos at any time or when the detector is armed, depending on your settings. This feature must be enabled by a user with privacy management rights in the Ajax app hub settings. The detector takes up to 3 seconds to begin capturing when a Photo on Demand request is initiated, with delivery times varying based on resolution and connection type.

What is the difference between Jeweller and Wings protocols?

Jeweller and Wings are two secure two-way wireless protocols that serve different purposes. Jeweller is used to transmit alarms, events, and system commands between the detector and hub, with alarm messages delivered immediately. Wings is specifically designed for transmitting photos from the detector to the hub and Ajax apps. Both protocols operate simultaneously, ensuring rapid alarm notification while photos are transmitted separately.

Can the detector be used outdoors?

No, the Superior MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller is designed exclusively for indoor use. Installing the detector outdoors can lead to false alarms, device malfunction, and failure due to exposure to environmental conditions outside the acceptable temperature and humidity ranges. For outdoor motion detection, Ajax offers dedicated outdoor detector models designed for external environments.

What hubs are compatible with this detector?

The Superior MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller requires an Ajax hub running OS Malevich firmware version 2.16 or higher. It is compatible with Ajax hubs from the Superior, Fibra, and Baseline product lines. The detector is not compatible with Hub, Hub Plus, third-party control panels, or ocBridge Plus and uartBridge integration modules. Only accredited Ajax Systems partners can install and configure Superior product line devices.

How do I know if the signal strength is adequate?

Signal strength is displayed in the Ajax app using a bar indicator system. Three bars indicate excellent signal strength, two bars show good signal strength, and one bar represents low signal strength where stable operation is not guaranteed. What happens when the batteries are low?

When the batteries are low, the Ajax system sends notifications to all users and the security monitoring company. During alarm events, the LED indicator will slowly light up green and fade out as a visual indication of low battery status. After receiving the low battery notification, the detector can continue operating for up to 2 months, providing ample time to schedule battery replacement without system downtime.
