What is a Zone Plan — and why does it matter?
A zone plan is a clear, to-scale diagram showing the layout of the building and the fire detection zones. It must be mounted next to the fire alarm control panel so that occupants or first responders can immediately identify the affected area in the event of an activation.
A compliant zone plan must:
- Show clearly marked zone boundaries
- Be oriented to match the viewers perspective
- Display key features such as fire doors, stairwells, circulation spaces, and escape routes
- Match the panel’s zone numbers and configuration
- Be easy to read and professionally presented
Without a zone plan, the system may be classed as non-compliant – risking failed inspections, insurance issues, and slower emergency response.
What we need from you
To create your plan, we’ll need:
- A basic floor layout or marked-up drawing of the premises in a PDF format (If you don’t have a PDF file of your property we can offer a bespoke design service for an additional fee)
- Clear identification of each fire alarm zone (numbered and described)
- Your company logo, if you’d like branding included
- Any specific site or panel information you’d like referenced
- A description of where the fire alarm panel is located

- An optional printed version (surcharge) for on-site mounting
Pricing & Turnaround
Pricing will depend on the number of zones and the complexity of the site. All costs will be confirmed with you upfront. Turnaround is within 72 hours of receiving all necessary information and drawings.
