Vimpex’s Identifire Pro is a substantial new range of alarm notification devices — and one that’s been built with a clear ambition: to offer installers and specifiers a single, unified platform that covers every scenario they’re likely to encounter, without compromise.
Designed and manufactured in Essex, Identifire Pro spans sounders, VADs and VIDs across five mounting configurations and more than 200 product variations. Here’s why it’s worth a closer look.
One platform, over 200 variants — built for how you actually work
The practical challenge with sourcing notification devices has always been the same: different jobs need different devices, and too often that means juggling different product families, different part number schemas and different installation methods. Identifire Pro is built to simplify that.
The range covers every device type you’re likely to need across fire, security and building alarm applications — all sharing the same form factor, the same installation approach and full compatibility with the wider Identifire family:
- 32-tone sounder — maximum output of 110 dB(A), EN (European Norm), Australian and Marine approved
- Wall Sounder VAD (Visual Alarm Device) — combined EN 54-3 and EN 54-23 approval, with adjustable flash rate and brightness
- Ceiling Sounder VAD — a versatile combination unit for ceiling-mounted applications
- Sounder VID (Visual Indicating Device) — EN, Australian and Marine approved, available in five lens colours
- Wall VAD — EN 54-23 compliant with high and low intensity settings
- Ceiling VAD — an approved visual-only device for ceiling use
- Wall VID — a beacon device suited to access control, security and general signalling
That’s over 200 product variations in total. One range, one set of installation habits, one supplier relationship to manage.
The approval credentials that matter on your jobs
Every Identifire Pro device carries approval to the relevant EN 54 standard — EN 54-3 for sounders and EN 54-23 for VADs — independently certified by UL. The range is also approved to Australian standards AS7240-3 and AS7240-23, with Marine Equipment Directive (MED) certification pending.
For most UK commercial installations, the EN 54 credentials are what you need. But if you’re working on projects with international reach, specialised marine environments or export-oriented clients, you’re not managing separate product families. That’s a genuine time-saver when it comes to specification.
On the sounder side, you get 32 user-selectable tones including 9 specifically approved tones covering all major European fire signals — German DIN, French AFNOR (Association Française de Normalisation), Swedish, Dutch and Italian tones, plus the ISO 8201 LF Marine tone. Tones to match leading detector manufacturers are also included, which simplifies mixed-system installations considerably.
BRE guidance compliance, designed in from the start
For UK commercial installations, the Wall Sounder VAD is worth particular attention. It’s specifically designed to allow compliance with the most recent BRE (Building Research Establishment) best practice guidance on VAD placement, colour choice and application — guidance that’s increasingly being referenced by building control, fire risk assessors and insurers on commercial projects.
Having a combined EN 54-3 / EN 54-23 device with adjustable flash rate and brightness, available in red or white housing with red or white lens options, means you can configure for BRE compliance without going to multiple suppliers or making compromises on device capability.
Five mounting options — a right answer for every application
Identifire Pro offers five mounting configurations, all sharing the same device format so you’re not learning a new product every time you switch:
- Flush mount — a slimline, architecturally sensitive option for smarter-looking installations
- Shallow mount — the standard base with a low-profile look for everyday commercial use
- Surface mount — ideal for surface wiring routes and glanded cable entry
- Weatherproof — purpose-designed to a true IP65 (Ingress Protection) rating for external and harsh environments
- Double backbox — for sites needing multiple alarm, flasher or strobe combinations in one location
The IP65 weatherproof enclosure is worth emphasising. That’s a verified rating for external and aggressive environments, not a marketing approximation — which matters when you’re putting devices on the outside of a building or into a high-humidity plant room where system integrity is non-negotiable.
Flexibility in finish and appearance
Housing colours are available in red, white and grey — covering the majority of commercial and aesthetic requirements without special orders. VID lens colours extend to white, red, blue, green and amber, giving specifiers genuine colour-coding options across large sites. VAD lenses are available in red or white.
All devices are also customisable via pad printing, which is useful for larger contracts, branded installations or OEM arrangements.
Part of a bigger family – and backwards compatible
Identifire Pro doesn’t exist in isolation. It’s the premium addition to the existing Identifire family, which already includes Mini Power Supplies, Connection Boxes, Remote Lamps, Auxiliary Relays, Buzzers and Beacons. Everything shares the same modern form factor and design, so sites with legacy Identifire devices can be extended or upgraded without visual or practical inconsistency.
Identifire Pro is designed and manufactured by Vimpex at their factory in Great Wakering, Essex — a manufacturer with over 30 years of experience in alarm signalling technology. UK manufacturing means shorter supply chains, faster lead times and a direct route to technical support when you need it.
