Summary

The C-TEC LAP501/CA Addressable Single-Message Lockdown Alert Panel is a dedicated control panel specifically designed to help smaller venues meet the requirements of The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, also known as ‘Martyn’s Law’. This streamlined solution provides essential lockdown capabilities for straightforward applications where a single, clear message is sufficient to protect building occupants.

Martyn’s Law requires premises with a capacity of 200 or more to have public protection measures in place, including lockdown plans, by April 2027. Standard tier venues (with capacities for 200-799 people) need public protection procedures, including lockdown, communication, and evacuation/invacuation plans, while enhanced tier venues (with 800+ capacities) are additionally required to implement specific measures and monitor the premises and immediate vicinity.

The LAP501/CA is fully monitored and battery-backed, providing reliable operation when it matters most. The panel broadcasts a full lockdown message via CAST lockdown voice sounders or CAST lockdown sounder VADs when a CAST lockdown call point is activated, alerting building occupants to an immediate threat within the building. This simple yet effective approach makes it ideal for schools, small theatres, retail premises, and other commercial venues that need cost-effective compliance with Martyn’s Law.

ENVISION enabled for compatibility with C-TEC’s cloud-based data management software, the LAP501/CA allows incidents to be monitored both on-site and remotely. Designed for use in conjunction with C-TEC’s CAST lockdown alert voice sounders, lockdown alert voice sounder VADs, and lockdown alert call points, this panel delivers comprehensive protection tailored to smaller venues’ specific security requirements.

FAQs

What is the difference between the LAP501/CA and the LAP2/CA panels?

The LAP501/CA is a single-message lockdown alert panel designed for smaller, straightforward applications. It broadcasts one full lockdown message when a call point is activated. The LAP2/CA is a multi-message panel designed for larger, more complex applications, offering multiple voice messages for different threat scenarios including full lockdown, partial lockdown, evacuation, and all clear messages selectable via secure keyswitches.

How does Martyn’s Law apply to my venue?

The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (Martyn’s Law) requires premises with a capacity of 200 or more to have public protection measures in place by April 2027. Standard tier venues (200-799 people) need lockdown, communication, and evacuation plans. Enhanced tier venues (800+ people) need additional measures including monitoring of the premises and immediate vicinity. The LAP501/CA helps smaller standard tier venues meet these requirements cost-effectively.

What message does the LAP501/CA broadcast?

The panel broadcasts a full lockdown alert voice message indicating there is an immediate threat within the building. The message instructs occupants to follow full lockdown procedures, stay calm, and stay alert for further instructions. Custom or coded voice messages can be arranged by special order by contacting C-TEC’s lockdown system support team.

How is the lockdown alert activated?

The lockdown alert is activated manually by pressing a CAST lockdown call point installed in accessible locations throughout the building. Once activated, the panel immediately broadcasts the lockdown message through all connected CAST lockdown voice sounders or sounder VADs.

Can the LAP501/CA be monitored remotely?

Yes, the LAP501/CA is ENVISION enabled, meaning it’s fully compatible with C-TEC’s cloud-based data management software. This allows incidents to be monitored both on-site and remotely, providing flexibility for security personnel and management to respond regardless of their location.

What devices can be connected to the LAP501/CA?

The panel features one CAST protocol loop driver and can connect to C-TEC’s CAST lockdown alert voice sounders, lockdown alert voice sounder VADs, and lockdown alert call points. The loop can support up to 255 addressable devices with a maximum loop length of 1km. The panel also includes two conventional sounder circuits for additional notification devices.

Can the LAP501/CA be expanded if our venue grows?

Yes, the panel supports network expansion via an optional AFP711 network card, allowing up to 8 panels per network (1km limit) or up to 8 repeaters per non-networked main panel. For venues requiring more complex messaging capabilities, C-TEC also offers the LAP2/CA multi-message panel or integration with ZFP CAST-protocol addressable fire panels.

When will the LAP501/CA be available?

The panel is scheduled for release in Q4 2025. For specific availability dates and to place pre-orders, contact C-TEC’s sales desk directly.
