One Communicator, Any Panel: Texecom’s SmartCom Pro range

We’ve just added something rather exciting to our catalogue – the complete Texecom SmartCom Pro range. If you’ve ever faced the headache of connecting third-party panels to modern alarm receiving centres or struggled with signal reliability in challenging locations, these three new communicators deserve your attention.

Why the SmartCom Pro range matters

Here’s the situation many installers face: you’re working with established systems from various manufacturers, but clients increasingly expect cloud connectivity, remote management, and bulletproof alarm signalling. Previously, this meant navigating a maze of compatibility issues or expensive system replacements.

The SmartCom Pro range solves this elegantly. Whether you’re installing a brand-new system or upgrading an existing one, these communicators provide a universal gateway to professional alarm communications – regardless of which intruder panel you’ve fitted. They work with any manufacturer’s panel that has digital outputs, which opens up genuine flexibility for your projects.

Three models for different requirements

Texecom has structured the range intelligently around real-world installation scenarios:

SmartCom Pro (CEN-0001) – the single-path model connects via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, offering SP2 transmission category compliance. It’s ideal for straightforward installations where you’ve got reliable network connectivity and need cost-effective cloud integration.

SmartCom Pro 4G (CEP-0001) – adds dual-path capability with 4G backup, automatically switching from primary Ethernet to mobile data if the network fails. Enhanced 4G signal performance across all bands means reliable communication even in areas with patchy 2G coverage. The roaming eSIMs operate on Texecom’s private APN for improved security, whilst multi-profile SIM technology provides triple-layer protection. This model achieves SP2 or DP1-DP4 transmission categories.

SmartCom Pro DR (CEQ-0001) – the dual radio variant intelligently selects the two best available 4G networks in any location. It uses separate modems with dual roaming eSIMs from different mobile network operators, all encrypted through Texecom’s private APN. This configuration delivers genuine redundancy for critical installations, achieving DP2 or DP3 transmission categories. Importantly, this model supports dual radio only – LAN and Wi-Fi aren’t available as signalling channels.

What makes these communicators genuinely useful

All three models share thoughtful design features that make installation and maintenance considerably easier. The quick Wi-Fi setup via QR code connection eliminates fiddly configuration (on Pro and Pro 4G models). Each unit includes 10 configurable input pins for tailored alarm configurations and four configurable outputs for various applications – from open/close keyswitch operation to tamper monitoring.

They operate across a broad 11-30V power supply range, making them compatible with both security and fire systems. The EOL tamper-protected links detect cable disconnection, whilst AES 256 encryption and anti-substitution protection ensure secure communications throughout.

For Premier Elite installations, you get complete serial compatibility, unlocking Texecom’s full digital services suite: Connect for end-user app control, Cloud for remote system management, and Monitor for EN 50136-compliant signalling to ARCs.

The practical advantages

Remote management capabilities genuinely reduce site visits. Through Texecom Cloud, you can perform health checks, diagnose faults, push configuration changes, and even upgrade firmware – all without leaving the office. Annual connection and service billing is handled directly through the platform, streamlining your administrative burden.

The 4-step LED indication system simplifies commissioning, whilst automatic connection to Texecom Cloud and local Wi-Fi AP mode for status viewing make setup straightforward even for installers new to the system.

Each unit measures just 75mm × 120mm × 26mm and weighs 119g, so they’re genuinely compact. Texecom offers an optional EN 50131-compliant housing (JAQ-0007) if your installation requires it, plus external antennas with 10m cables for challenging signal environments.

Compliance and regional availability

All three models meet PD 6669:2017, EN 50131-1:+A3:2020, EN 50131-10:2014, EN 50136-1:2012+A1:2018, and EN 50136-2:2013+A1:2023. They’re certified for Environmental Class II operation from 0°C to 40°C.

Currently, 4G signalling is supported across the UK, Europe, India, and South Africa. Texecom Monitor – the ARC signalling service – operates in the UK, Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg, with ongoing expansion to additional regions.

Final thoughts

The SmartCom Pro range represents sensible product development focused on installer needs rather than unnecessary complexity. Whether you’re maintaining legacy systems or building new installations, having universal compatibility with comprehensive remote management genuinely simplifies your workflow.

All three models are available now. If you’d like to discuss which variant suits specific projects you’re working on, our team is here to help.
