What is the difference between FC-2X-AF2-FB-W-99 and FC-2X-AF2-FB-P-W-99?

The FC-2X-AF2-FB-W-99 is the base 2X-A control panel expandable model without an integrated power supply, whilst the FC-2X-AF2-FB-P-W-99 includes a standard 6A power supply unit pre-installed. Both models offer identical control panel functionality and expansion capabilities. The choice depends on whether you prefer to specify and install your own power supply configuration or require a complete panel with PSU included.

Can this panel integrate wireless detection devices?

Yes, the 2X-A control panel is fully compatible with the EMS Fusion Radio Loop Module (RLM), which enables integration of wireless FireCell detection devices alongside traditional hardwired devices on the same system. This provides flexibility for installations where cabling is impractical or where retrofit applications require minimal disruption. The wireless devices communicate using the same XP95 protocol and are managed through the same control interface.

How many devices and zones can the panel support?

In its standard two-loop configuration, the panel supports up to 256 addressable devices across 512 zones. Each loop can accommodate up to 128 devices across 256 zones. With the optional loop expansion board (FC-2X-A-LB-W), the system can be expanded to four loops, effectively doubling the device and zone capacity. When networked with other panels, the system can support up to 64 nodes across 256 loops for very large installations.

What EN certifications does this panel hold?

The 2X-A control panel is third party certified to EN54-2 (control and indicating equipment), EN54-4 (power supply equipment), EN54-13 (compatibility assessment), and EN54-21 (transmission of fire alarm and fault signals to a fire alarm receiving centre). The standard 6A PSU configuration carries certification number 0370-CPR-6472, whilst the larger 10A PSU option carries certification number 0370-CPR-6473. These certifications ensure compliance with European fire detection standards for commercial and residential installations.

Can the panel be networked with other fire alarm systems?

Yes, the panel features RS485 networking capability and can accommodate a network board (FC-2010-2-NB) to create networks of up to 64 nodes across 256 loops. This includes compatibility with other FireCell control panels, conventional fire panels, and fire repeater panels. The network can incorporate up to 64 conventional zones when integrating legacy systems. Networking is configured using the Configuration Utility software and supports comprehensive cause and effect programming across the entire network.

What battery backup options are available?

The standard 6A PSU configuration supports internal batteries up to 2x 12V 18Ah, providing substantial standby capacity for typical installations. For applications requiring extended battery backup, an alternative 10A PSU option is available which supports either 2x 12V 12Ah internal batteries or 2x 12V 65Ah external batteries housed in a separate battery box. The power supply automatically maintains battery charge and monitors battery condition, generating fault signals if battery capacity degrades.

Can zone indication boards be retrofitted later?

Yes, the large cabinet provides ample space to accommodate optional 20 zone (FC-2010-2A-ZI-20) or 40 zone (FC-2010-2A-ZI-40) LED indicator boards, which can be installed during initial commissioning or retrofitted later as requirements change. These boards provide individual fire and fault indication for each zone with customisable text labels, making them ideal for installations where site personnel need to quickly identify the location of activations. The boards draw minimal current (12-14 mA) and connect directly to the panel’s internal connections.
