What is the difference between the Identileak Mini and standard Identileak panels?

The Identileak Mini panel is a compact 2-zone version designed for smaller, space-conscious installations such as large residential properties or small commercial premises. It supports up to 20m of cable or 8 probes per zone, compared to larger panels which offer up to 8 zones. The Mini uses the same detection technology and plug-and-play interfaces as the full Identileak range but in a more compact enclosure.

Can I use both detection cable and probes on the same zone?

Yes, the Identileak Mini supports both linear detection cable and point detection probes on the same detection zone using the combined interface. This flexibility allows you to design systems that use cable for wide area coverage and probes for pinpoint detection in specific locations, all monitored by a single zone.

How does the battery backup system work?

The panel includes space for 2 x 1.2 Ah sealed lead acid batteries wired in series to provide 24V DC backup power. The batteries are continuously charged when mains power is present and automatically take over during power failures, ensuring 24/7 leak detection protection. The panel monitors battery voltage and will indicate a fault if battery voltage drops below acceptable levels.

What happens when a leak is detected?

When water contact is detected, the panel immediately triggers both visual and audible alarms. The zone alarm LED illuminates to identify which zone has detected water, the internal buzzer sounds, and the dedicated sounder circuit activates any connected external sounders or beacons. The system maintains the alarm condition until manually reset by an authorised user.

What is the maximum cable length per zone?

Each detection zone can support up to 20 metres of Identileak Water Detection Cable when using the combined interface. Alternatively, you can connect up to 8 Identileak Probes per zone, or a combination of cable and probes up to these limits.

What access levels does the panel have?

The panel has three access levels: Level 1 (General User) allows buzzer silencing and basic functions; Level 2 (Authorised User, code 2244) enables alarm reset, sounder control, and zone disablement; Level 3 (Engineering Mode, code 4321) provides access to advanced programming including coincidence settings, non-latching zones, delay timers and system testing functions.

Can the panel integrate with building management systems?

Yes, the Identileak Mini includes auxiliary relay outputs that provide volt-free contacts for integration with building management systems (BMS). The fire relay provides a changeover contact (COM-NC-NO) and the fault relay provides a normally closed contact (COM-NC), both rated at 30V DC 2A for resistive loads, allowing connection to external control systems or solenoid valves for automatic water isolation.

What type of end-of-line monitoring does the panel use?

Detection zones use active end-of-line monitoring with a 10µF/50V bipolar capacitor fitted at the last device on each zone. Sounder circuits use passive end-of-line monitoring with a 10K Ohm 0.25W resistor. These end-of-line devices allow the panel to continuously monitor circuit integrity and detect open circuit or short circuit faults.

Is the panel suitable for outdoor use?

No, the Identileak Mini has an IP30 rating and is designed for indoor use only. It should be installed in dry locations at temperatures between -10°C and 50°C with a maximum relative humidity of 95% non-condensing. The panel should not be mounted in enclosures or near sources of excessive heat.

What starter kits are available?
