FAQ
Where should pull cords be positioned in accessible bedrooms?
Pull cords should be installed by the bed so they can be operated from the bed and from an adjacent floor area. In toilet areas, the pull cord should be positioned behind the handrail, level with the front of the toilet, with the bottom ring 100mm from the floor. In shower areas, they should be accessible from the shower position.
How does the pull cord provide confirmation when activated?
When the cord is pulled, the unit immediately illuminates with a blue indicator and sounds an audible tone to confirm the alarm state. This gives the user immediate feedback that their emergency call has been successfully activated and help is being summoned.
What is the length and configuration of the pull cord?
The ViAC-CPP-W features a 2.7 metre red pull cord with 2 rings. This length ensures the cord can be reached from various positions within accessible bedrooms, shower areas, and toilet facilities while remaining clearly visible with its distinctive red colour.
How many pull cords can be connected on the same circuit?
There is a maximum of 6 pull cords that can be installed on a single line, with the last operated device registering for system identification. Each plate has two sets of two part terminals allowing simple daisy-chain connections with flexible wiring order.
What mounting options are available for the pull cord?
The pull cord supports both flush and surface mounting options to accommodate different wall types and installation requirements. The white polycarbonate construction provides a clean aesthetic suitable for various accommodation environments while maintaining durability.
What happens after a pull cord is activated?
Once activated, the pull cord illuminates and sounds, and the alarm is transmitted to the central monitoring point. The over-door indicator will also activate to alert staff in the corridor. The system can only be reset by pressing one of the cancel buttons in the room.
