Summary
The ViLX-OSA is a Type A EVCS (Emergency Voice Communications System) outstation designed to provide secure, bi-directional, full duplex voice communication for firefighters during emergencies in high rise buildings or large sites where radio communication may be compromised by fire plasma interference.
Fully compliant with BS 5839-9:2021, the outstation can function as a fire telephone system, disabled refuge system, or as a combined system when both applications are required in a building. The system is compatible with the Lexicomm EVC system and the UnicornVoice PAVA system.
Supplied in a brushed stainless steel finish with high contrast red screen printing, the outstation features a rugged red telephone handset behind a magnetic push door. A flush mounting bezel is available to reduce installation complexity while meeting Building Regulations Document M requirements for accessibility.

What height should the outstation be mounted at?
The outstation should be mounted at a height of 1300mm to 1400mm from the floor to the centre line of the unit to comply with Building Regulations Document M (Access for the Disabled).
What are the dimensions for flush mounting?
For flush mounting, a cut-out of 305mm by 155mm is recommended. The bezel slides over the box and is fixed to the wall using suitable sealant or mastic.

Enhanced fire resistant 2 core 1.5mm screened cable is recommended, which can run up to 500m from the compatible panel. Refer to BS 5839-9:2021 for exceptions.
