What is the difference between Ajax Superior and standard Ajax products?

Ajax Superior devices are specifically designed for professional installations and project-oriented applications. They offer enhanced certification compliance including Grade 2 and Grade 3 standards (EN 50131, PD 6662), improved hardware specifications, and features tailored for commercial environments. Superior products can only be activated using the Ajax PRO Engineer App, ensuring professional installation and configuration. While maintaining the same user-friendly interface, Superior devices provide additional reliability and meet stricter regulatory requirements for commercial security installations.

How does the pet immunity feature work on the MotionProtect S detectors?

The Superior MotionProtect S uses Ajax’s SmartDetect algorithm combined with a specially designed Fresnel lens to distinguish between humans and pets. The lens pattern features large sections that capture IR radiation at adult head and torso level, while smaller sections provide detailed thermal mapping. The system analyses multiple parameters including IR radiation intensity, thermal spot size, movement speed, and time spent in the detection zone. The system supports 2G and 3G networks and can use SIM cards from different mobile providers to eliminate single-point-of-failure risks. If one SIM card fails to respond, the second activates automatically. This triple-redundancy design ensures alarm signals reliably reach users and central monitoring stations even during internet outages or mobile network disruptions. The system also includes a 2Ah Li-Ion backup battery providing up to 15 hours of operation during mains power failure.

Can I expand this system with additional devices in the future?

Yes, the Hub2 supports up to 100 wireless devices and 10 MotionCam detectors, providing substantial expansion capability beyond the seven devices included in Kit 27 Superior. You can add additional motion detectors (including MotionCam models with photo verification), door/window contacts, glass break detectors, flood detectors, fire detectors, additional sirens, keypads, and automation devices such as relays and sockets. The system also supports integration with up to 25 CCTV cameras or DVRs from manufacturers including Hikvision, Dahua, and Uniview. All devices connect wirelessly using the encrypted Jeweller protocol with a range of up to 1,200 metres, and can be easily added via the mobile app by scanning QR codes.
