Summary

The ZP755HAV-2R is an addressable horn sounder with visual indicator designed for use with Ziton ZP7 series addressable fire detection systems. Combining both audible and visual alarm signals in a single loop-wired unit, this device addresses disability legislation requirements for hearing-impaired occupants whilst reducing installation costs and complexity throughout buildings.

The device features high-efficiency acoustic design and low-current LED technology, enabling up to 20 sounder beacons to be connected to a single 1km loop of 1.5mm² cable. Installation is simplified through a plug-in base system that eliminates internal wiring connections, whilst the included volume control potentiometer allows sound output adjustment where reduced levels are required.

A unique self-test facility automatically activates during routine testing, using a built-in microphone circuit to measure sound output and report failures to the control panel with device address and location details. The unit offers continuous, intermittent and two-tone audible outputs complying with BS5839 Part 1 frequencies, supporting two-stage alert and evacuation alarm configurations certified to EN54-3 standards.

FAQs

What is the maximum sound output of the ZP755HAV-2R?

The ZP755HAV-2R produces a maximum sound output of up to 92dBA depending on the selected tone configuration. The device includes a volume control potentiometer that allows the sound level to be reduced for areas where lower output is required. However, to conform to EN54 Part 3 sound output level requirements, the volume control must be set to the full clockwise position.

How many ZP755HAV-2R devices can be connected to a single loop?

Up to 20 loop-powered ZP755HAV-2R devices can be connected to a 1km loop of 1.5mm² cable with a wiring run of 50m to the first device. The maximum number varies depending on cable length and configuration – for example, with a 10m panel-to-first-device run, 980m between first and last device, and 10m last-device-to-panel, you can connect 80 detectors plus 20 sounders or 100 detectors plus 15 sounders on the same loop.

What power supply options are available for this device?

The ZP755HAV-2R can be powered either directly from the addressable loop (16-20.5V pulsed) or from an external 24VDC supply (18-30VDC). Power source selection is made using jumpers J1 and J2 on the device. When loop powered, it draws 820µA quiescent and 9.6mA alarm current. When externally powered, loop current reduces to 470µA quiescent and 500µA alarm. External power supplies must be EN54-4 compliant.

What tone options are available and how are they configured?

The device offers three tone types: continuous (980Hz), intermittent (980Hz 0.5s on/off), and two-tone warble (980Hz/670Hz). When configured in ZP755 device mode, DIP switches SW2-1, SW2-2 and SW2-3 allow selection of tone combinations for two-stage alarms – Tone A (primary/alert) and Tone B (secondary/evacuation). Six different tone combinations are available including intermittent/continuous, continuous/intermittent, continuous/two-tone, two-tone/continuous, two-tone/intermittent, and intermittent/two-tone.

Does this device comply with EN54-23 for visual alarm devices?

No, the visual indicator of the ZP755HAV-2R does not comply with EN54-23 and must not be used in fire alarm installations where EN54-23 certified fire notification beacons are specifically required. However, the audible sounder element is certified to EN54-3 for fire detection and alarm systems. The device is suitable for applications requiring visual alarm signals for hearing-impaired occupants where EN54-23 compliance is not mandated.

What is the self-test facility and how does it work?

The ZP755HAV-2R features a unique built-in self-test facility that automatically activates during routine sounder testing. A microphone circuit measures the actual sound output level and compares it against expected performance. If the sound output test fails, the device automatically signals its address and location to the control panel, enabling maintenance teams to quickly identify and resolve faults without manual verification of each device.

What is the difference between ZP755 and ZP754 Emulation modes?

ZP755 device mode (DIP switch SW2-6 OFF) provides user-selectable two-tone operation with full monitoring capabilities and is compatible with all ZP7 series panels. ZP754 Emulation mode (DIP switch SW2-6 ON) operates with two fixed tones and is intended only for ZP5 panels or ZP3 panels with legacy firmware. Most installations should use ZP755 mode for full functionality and tone flexibility.

Can the device be removed from the base once installed?

Yes, the ZP755HAV-2R can be easily removed from its plug-in base by reversing the installation procedure. The device features a release/lock catch mechanism – simply push up, turn until the catch releases, and lift away from the base. The addressable loop monitors for device removal and will report a fault condition to the control panel if a device is removed whilst the system is operational.
