You can connect up to 60 sounders and 60 detectors on a single 1km loop using 1.5mm² two-core shielded cable. The exact quantity depends on cable lengths – for example, with 10m from panel to first device, 980m between devices and 10m return, you can achieve the full 50 detectors and 50 sounders, or 63 detectors with 42 sounders. Can the ZP755R-2R be powered from an external power supply instead of the loop?

Yes, the ZP755R-2R can be powered either from the loop or from an external 24VDC supply. You simply use jumpers J1 and J2 on the device to select the power source. When using external power, the supply must be EN54-4 compliant and of sufficient capacity for your installation. External powering significantly reduces loop current requirements, with quiescent current dropping from 820µA to 470µA.

What tone options are available and how do I configure them?

In ZP755 device mode, you can select from six tone combinations using DIP switches SW2-1, SW2-2 and SW2-3. How do I set the device address on the ZP755R-2R?

Address setting uses a 7-way DIP switch (SW1) with decimal values. Each switch position has a value (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64) and the device address is the sum of the switch values set to ON. For example, to set address 7, you would set switches 1, 2 and 3 to ON (1+2+4=7) with all others OFF. This allows addressing from 1 to 127. Note that the switch values determine the address, not the switch numbers.

Can I adjust the volume, and are there any restrictions?

The ZP755R-2R includes a volume control potentiometer for adjusting output level. However, to conform to EN54 Part 3 sound output level requirements, the volume control must be set to the full clockwise position. If the volume needs to be adjusted for specific circumstances, it must be returned to the full clockwise position to maintain certification compliance and ensure adequate sound levels during emergency situations.
