Ziton ZP755BV-4P | Addressable Base Sounder & Visual Indicator | Polar White, Self-Test
£51.89 (inc VAT: £62.27)
Summary
The ZP755BV-4P is an addressable base sounder with visual indicator designed for Ziton ZP7 series addressable fire detection systems. Combining a detector base, audible sounder and high-intensity LED visual indicator in a single polar white moulding, this innovative device eliminates the need for separate detection and notification components, significantly reducing installation costs and complexity whilst meeting disability legislation requirements for hearing-impaired occupants.
The unit features independent addressing for detector and alarm functions, enabling flexible system programming with up to 35 devices connected to a 1km loop of 1.5mm² cable. High-efficiency acoustic design using a low-energy sound gun transducer and LED visual element minimises loop current consumption to just 0.9mA quiescent and 13mA alarm, maximising system capacity whilst delivering sound outputs up to 92dBA across multiple selectable volume levels.
Installation is simplified through a plug-in base design requiring no internal connections, with comprehensive configuration options via DIP switches for operating modes, tone selection, volume levels and visual indicator control. The device includes a unique self-test facility that automatically measures sound output during routine testing and reports any failures with device address and location details to the control panel, certified to EN54-3 standards with support for continuous, intermittent and two-tone outputs plus international alert patterns.

FAQs
Can the detector and sounder have separate addresses?
Yes, the ZP755BV-4P features independent addressing for the detector and sounder functions. Using DIP switch SW2-4, you can configure the unit to operate in two modes: stand-alone mode (SW2-4 ON) where the sounder has its own unique loop address separate from any detector, or dedicated mode (SW2-4 OFF) where the sounder address matches the detector address. This flexibility enables sophisticated cause-and-effect programming where specific detectors can activate designated sounders or groups of notification devices.
How many ZP755BV-4P units can be connected to a single loop?
Up to 35 ZP755BV-4P base sounders can be connected to a 1km loop of 1.5mm² cable with a wiring run of 50m to the first device. However, this assumes loop-powered operation and the actual number depends on the total system configuration. For example, with a 10m panel-to-first-device run, 980m between devices, and 10m back to panel, you can connect 60 detectors plus 35 sounders or 90 detectors plus 30 sounders. The number varies based on cable routing and whether devices are externally powered.
What international tones are available?
The ZP755BV-4P offers extensive international tone options configured via DIP switches SW2-1, SW2-2 and SW2-3. Available tones include UK standard continuous (980Hz), intermittent (980Hz 0.5s on/off) and two-tone (980Hz/670Hz), Australian whoop (500-980Hz 4s sweep) and Australian alert (440Hz 0.5s on/off complying with ISO7731), Swedish tone (670Hz 0.3s/0.5s), Dutch slow whoop (500-1200Hz 3.5s/0.5s), ISO8201 (980Hz 0.5s on/off), French two-tone (554Hz/440Hz 0.5s on/off), German tone (1200-500Hz 1s sweep) and class change (1000Hz/1200Hz/1500Hz 4s). Each tone can be assigned to primary warning, secondary evacuation or attention (non-fire) signals. Note that class change and visual indicator only modes may require modern control panel firmware.
How does the volume control work?
The ZP755BV-4P offers four volume levels configured using DIP switches SW2-6 and SW2-7. Level 1 (both switches OFF) is the quietest at 3dBA less than level 2. Level 2 (SW2-6 ON, SW2-7 OFF) is 3dBA less than level 3. Level 3 (SW2-6 OFF, SW2-7 ON) is 3dBA less than level 4. Level 4 (both switches ON) provides the loudest output with EN54-3 certified tones reaching up to 92dBA. This allows installation flexibility where reduced sound levels are appropriate for specific areas whilst maintaining certified performance at maximum volume.
Can the visual indicator be disabled?
Yes, DIP switch SW2-5 controls the visual indicator mode. Setting SW2-5 to ON enables the visual indicator, whilst OFF disables it. However, disabling the visual indicator is not recommended when using the “visual indicator only” tone setting (German tone option), as this would result in no audible or visual alarm output. The visual indicator uses a red LED array flashing at 0.9Hz (54 flashes per minute) with light output less than 1 joule, and must not be used where EN54-23 compliant fire notification beacons are required.
Does the device require an external power supply?
No, the ZP755BV-4P can operate entirely from loop power (16-20.5V pulsed), drawing just 0.9mA quiescent and 13mA peak during alarm. However, in installations where loop lengths or current requirements are excessive, the device can be powered from an external 24VDC supply (18-30VDC range) using jumpers J1 and J2. When externally powered, loop current reduces to 0.8mA quiescent and 6.6mA peak, with the external supply providing 3.7mA RMS. Any external power supply must be EN54-4 compliant with sufficient capacity for installation requirements.
What is the self-test facility?
The ZP755BV-4P includes a unique built-in microphone self-test facility that automatically activates during routine sounder testing. The microphone circuit measures actual sound output levels and compares them against expected performance. If the sound output test fails, the device automatically signals its address and location to the control panel, enabling maintenance teams to quickly identify faulty devices without manual verification. This facility ensures continuous system integrity and simplifies commissioning and maintenance procedures.
What base is required for installation?
The ZP755BV-4P requires an SPB-2P polar white plug-in base (supplied separately) for cable termination and mounting. The base is wired to the addressable loop including terminals for external 24VDC power, loop positive/negative, and shield connections. Importantly, there is no wiring between the sounder unit and the base – the sounder simply clicks onto the base using a bayonet twist-lock mechanism. The installation procedure is: push the sounder up, turn until it clicks into place, then push up once more to fully engage. A ZP755-COV-P polar white cover (reference 70802) is also available.
